Dwayne Beach
Interdisciplinary artist, DC Alumni, Buddy and Teaching Artist
Dwayne Beach is a New York City-born American-Belizean interdisciplinary artist recognized for his achievements as a violist, violinist, singer-songwriter, and dancer. By blending classical virtuosity with innovative artistic expression, he redefines the boundaries of the modern musical artist.
He has performed internationally as both a concert violinist and violist, touring with the Avatar: The Last Airbender live show (2024), serving as concertmaster for the Grammy-winning Jagged Little Pill Broadway tour (2022–2024), and appearing with the Sarajevski Filharmonije in Bosnia, as well as a featured guest on Holland America cruises in the Arctic.
Beach began dancing at age nine through the Dancing Classrooms program led by Pierre Dulaine, where he developed a solid foundation in ballroom styles. Under the mentorship of Tatiana Keegan, he deepened his passion for Latin dance and later integrated both ballroom and Latin elements into his interdisciplinary practice.
His collaborative work with the Maria Torres Dance Company and choreographers such as Wayne Daniel and Princess Lockeroo has incorporated African, Afro-Cuban, Orisha, and Waacking styles into his artistic vocabulary. Most recently, he worked with Ronny Dutra on False Steps! A Musical Comedy that explores the lives of ballroom dancers.
Dwayne Beach has also produced two acclaimed discographies—Shoo False Love, I Fear Not! and Sketches—with his duo The F-Tones, through which he demonstrates his musical versatility and original compositions.
His commitment to merging music and movement has led to appearances as a guest artist and educator, including participation in the Afro-Latin Immersion program at Jacob’s Pillow and a feature in a Hustle dance documentary for the Jerome Robbins Dance Archives at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
